Introduction: Agroforestry in the Netherlands

This case study is investigating improved carbon storage in soils and trees in the Netherlands

In the Netherlands, forestation of agricultural land is supported by agricultural policy, in order to make agriculture more environmentally friendly. Both production forests (aimed at generating wood) and food forests (directed at producing food) can be realized.

Integrating forestry and agriculture can deliver significant benefits over conventional types of land use.
